Sink your teeth into this hearty steak and sauerkraut sandwich layered on rye bread. Topped with sharp cheddar and mustard mayo, it’s a bold, tangy, and satisfying comfort food.

INGREDIENTS
•  2 slices rye bread
•  200 g (7 oz) beef steak (SIRLOIN STEAK FOR BEST RESULTS), thinly sliced and cooked
•  100 g (3.5 oz) sauerkraut, drained or gherkins as an optional choice
•  60 g (2 oz) sharp cheddar cheese, Lettice shredded,  4 slices of tomato
•  30 ml (2 tbsp) mayonnaise
•  15 ml (1 tbsp) Dijon mustard
•  15 ml (1 tbsp) butter for toasting bread
•  Salt and pepper to taste

STEP-BY-STEP COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
1.  Season steak with salt and pepper, then cook in a hot skillet for 3–4 minutes per side until medium.
2.  Remove steak, let rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly.
3.  In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and Dijon mustard to make mustard mayo.
4.  Butter rye bread slices lightly and toast in a skillet until golden.
5.  Spread mustard mayo on one slice of toasted rye.
6.  Layer Lettice, sliced tomato, steak slices, sauerkraut, and sharp cheddar cheese.
7.  Top with the second slice of rye bread.
8.  Press gently, slice in half, and serve warm.
